7.7 Million Hectare Seismic Survey
The proposed survey area – which is larger than Tasmania – spans the Otway Basin from Tasmania to South Australia, along the Victorian coastline. The area is of critical importance to protected and threatened marine life, commercial fisheries, tourism and important ecosystems.
Some of Australia’s most iconic coastlines and significant biodiverse ecosystems are adjacent to the area, including the 12 Apostles and the Great Southern Reef. The area is:
-
39km from the iconic King Island
-
48km from Portland (VIC)
-
61km from Warrnambool
-
64km from Robe (SA)
-
85km from the Arthur River on Tasmania’s west coast
